Hot Tracks on Repeat

As Emily mentioned in her FIRST POST EVER, I was in charge of creating the playlists for Milly & Grace when they first opened.  I love making playlists!  I love every genre of music… Country. Motown. Jazz (like Frank Sinatra). Soft Rock. R&B. Pop, etc.  It all depends on my current mood or the mood I would like to be in.  Music can change your mood in a matter of seconds!  When you are angry and need a good break up or girl power song… Taylor Swift, Pink and Beyonce are your girls!

My good friend Dustin LOVES putting together mixed CD’s.  He always brings them to me and right away I can’t wait to get to my car so I can pop that baby in (which is now the only place I have a CD player.  Remember when we would carry around discmans…  AND binders full of every CD we owned?!  Oh how times have changed.)!  Dustin always calls the songs he puts on his CD’s, “hot tracks.”  So in honor of Dustin, I am sharing with you some of my current HOT TRACKS.  A little medley of my current favorites.  (It literally is my “recently played” list on my IPod.)

Everyone must listen to Same Love by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.  Caroline and I first heard this song in Tom Shadyac’s class.  It touched our hearts.  I hope it touches yours too.

A Bachelorette Bracket

I am completely obsessed with The Bachelor/Bachelorette. I know the show is ridiculous, but it’s too addicting. (So make fun of me all you want…”I don’t care! I love it!”) For years, I have gotten together with family and friends on Monday nights to have mini Bachelorette watching parties. And we always talk about who we think will make it to the end and who we think will be voted off each night. I thought it would be so fun to turn that discussion into a bit of a competition…and so I created a Bachelorette Bracket!!

Slide1 copy

Here’s how it works. First, get a group of people together or at least one other person who would like to participate with you. Then, print off brackets for each person participating. Each person must fill out each space with the names of the men you think will make it to the next show. You have to fill the bracket completely out…all the way to “winner”…before tonight’s show starts! Then, watch the show each week to see if how many you guessed correctly. And once the show is over…tally up your points:

TOP 13:          1 point per guy you get correct

TOP 11:          2 points per guy you get correct

TOP 9:            3 points per guy you get correct

TOP 6:            4 points per guy you get correct

HOMETOWN: 5 points per guy you get correct

TOP 3:            6 points per guy you get correct

FINALE:          8 points per guy you get correct

WINNER:        10 points if you chose the correct guy!

Whoever has the most points between you and the rest of your group at the end of the show wins! And to make things even more exciting you can even have a prize involved for the winner!

I’m filling out my bracket right now. And I cannot wait for tonight’s show!

The name Milly & Grace came about 4 years ago when I opened a clothing & home décor boutique on Nantucket.  I named the store after our Grandmothers: Milly & Grace (see the About page).

Really, my family is as much a part of the Milly & Grace brand as I am.  The store wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for them.  My mom helps with buying & merchandising, Allison worked at the store the first summer and makes all the music playlists, Caroline has worked/ been the boss every summer since it opened and my dad has offered countless hours of business advice.  It truly has become a family affair.

Since Allison and Caroline are also the granddaughters of Milly & Grace it worked out to be the perfect name!

So thank you to my adorable little sisters for including their big sister so she doesn’t feel left out!
