Snow in LA

One of the best parts about my job with Sprinkles is that I get to be a part of so many wonderful events that happen in Los Angeles.

Mattel, as a part of their many philanthropic efforts, hosted a Day of Play for kids of local inner city schools at the Mattel Headquarters campus in Los Angeles, and they asked Sprinkles to be a part of the day!

Snowman Ballon

This year, they decided to attempt to beat the Guinness Book of World Record for snowmen built in an hour.  They brought in real fake snow for the snowmen building and for sledding!  How fun!  Not many LA kids have ever seen snow before… now they get to build snowmen!  The world record is 1,279 and was achieved by CLEARLINK on January 15, 2011.

Sprinkles Cupcakes was there to treat the kids and Mattel employees with cupcakes after all their hard work building over 1000 snowmen!  They ended up 15 snowmen short of the record. :(

After all our hard work, Mattel was so kind to let us play! Yay!

Sledding in El Segundo… Never thought that could be possible! THANK YOU, MATTEL!

Happy Tom Brady Day!

For those of you who think that today is only about 12/12/12, the last day we will ever have repeating digits in our date for a very long time (monumental, I know), you are seriously mistaken.  Today is ACTUALLY Tom Brady Day.  Today we get to celebrate arguably or, in my opinion not arguably because he is, the best quarterback of ALL TIME!  NOW THAT’S MONUMENTAL!

Struggle: Los Angeles Traffic

All the horror stories you hear about Los Angeles and it’s traffic problems are 100% true.

To drive what you think would take 5 minutes could turn into a one hour ordeal. Seriously.

I have now lived in California for 3 years.  I think that officially makes me a Californian? Ok, I’m a Californian with the heart of a New Englander.  I can live with that.

As a Californian, I am now one of those people who works directions, shortcuts, parking rules (street cleaning, permit only, hourly, metered) and/or road names into any and all conversations…warranted or unwarranted.  If you don’t understand what I am talking about because you have never encountered a true LA guy/girl… SNL was so kind to do a short for me to put on my blog to bring to life…life as I now know it.

SNL and Through Struggles to the Stars brings you…

THE CALIFORNIANS.

If you come to LA… just throw out road names like Wilshire, Santa Monica, Beverly, Mulholland, San Vicente, La Brea, the 405, the 10… you’ll fit right in.

The best part about the short is that they can’t keep a straight face!!

I think they’re cracking up because they have all lived here and know how real it is…and how ridiculous it is!
