A Tea Party Bridal Shower for Julia!

My best friend Julia is getting married a week from today!!  You all probably remember Julia from her Nantucket Girl feature.  In honor of her upcoming nuptials, Patty, Caroline & I hosted a bridal shower for her.  We decided on a tea party theme!

SIDE NOTE: I have something to admit.  I have grandma tendencies.  I mean I know it is obvious that I love my grandmas.  But I also love grandma decor.  I started collecting vintage tea cups when I was 16.  Yep.  And I own a lot of hobnail.  Steve loves it.

Vintage teacups, cake stands, paper fans, doilies, pretty posies, mason jars tied with lace, paper straws and banners.

The Peach Tea Cocktail, finger sandwiches, fruit salad, guacamole, spinach & artichoke dip and hummus platter, pastys, scones with cream & chocolate chip cookies! (Stay tuned for the Peach Tea Cocktail recipe!  I’ll be posting about it later this week!)

We wanted to spice up opening presents so we had a an idea that involved the groom to be!  Before the shower, we sent off a questionnaire to Julia’s fiancé Steve.  We asked him questions like: What is Julia’s favorite flower? What did Julia wear on their first date?  What movie star does Julia remind you of? etc.  In between opening each presents we asked Julia the same questions to see if their answers matched!  It’s kind of  like the Newlywed Game.  Julia did really well!  I think they are meant to be!

Thank you to everyone who came to help shower the bride to be!  We love you Julia and can’t wait to celebrate you and Steve on June 21st!!

A Midsummer Night in Tuscany

Yes, we really went to Tuscany. Okay not really…but it sure felt like we were there! Every year our club hosts a party for all the members to enjoy a fun evening of delicious food and lots of dancing. And for the past three years, my mom, Emily, and our friend Carole have been the party planners! They have so much fun putting it all together and this year they really knocked it out of the park. (And that is my unbiased opinion ;) )

There is always a theme to the party – last year’s was a Luau and this year’s was Tuscan! I was most excited about this theme because Italian food is my absolute favorite. And I pretty much ate my weight in spaghetti that night.

The night starts out with drinks, appetizers, and lots of mingling. Then, everyone moves into the tent for dinner and dessert. And once everyone’s tummies were stuffed, we all waddled onto the dance floor to dance the night away.

Emily is known for her goofy – I mean, crowd pleasing moves!! So, if you ever find yourself on a dance floor racking your brain for a few new moves…you are welcome to borrow some from her. Watch and learn in this video below!

We always have such a blast and look forward to this night every year. I can’t wait to hear what next year’s theme will be. Mom and Emily…want to give us any hints??

Instyle Event for Velvet’s Store Opening featuring Olive & June

O&J 1

Last night, I attended Instyle Magazine’s party for the opening of Velvet by Spencer + Graham in Brentwood.  The party featured Drybar, an amazing LA-Original blow dry bar who has been saving women’s lives since 2010, and also INTRODUCED to the world Beverly Hills’ newest and hippest nail salon, Olive & June!!

O&J 3

All the women (and even some of the men) got to shop, sip on cocktails, get our nails done and get our hair did…

Um, sounds like the PERFECT night out!

O&J 4

EVERYONE was buzzing about Olive & June!  They all waited patiently to get polished by O&J’s manicurists with RGB polish.

The girl who dreamed up the idea for Olive & June is my friend, Sarah! (Look at her in action below!)  I am so proud of her!  It was only a few months ago when she first told me about her dream to open a trendy nail salon in Beverly Hills where women can come and hang out with their girlfriends while getting their weekly mani/pedis.  I know that Olive & June is going to be the newest HOT SPOT in town.

O&J 2

Our other friend Crystal came to the event too!  We all met at Tracy Anderson Method Studio.  We have spent many hours dancing and sweating together!  Love these girls!

For all the LA readers…

Olive & June will be opening it’s doors soon!  They are moving into a cute little place on Canon (next to La Scala).

Thank you, InStyle, for such a lovely event!
