Switzerland: Day One

Well it’s official…I have moved to Switzerland! For an entire year! Can you believe it??? I barely can either.

Hannah, Natalie, and I, along with about 60 other Pepperdine students, arrived at LAX at 3 am yesterday (Tuesday) morning to begin our adventure. We landed in Switzerland at 9 am this (Wednesday) morning. And we have been advised to try to stay up until bedtime so that we can best adjust to the time change. However, after hardly sleeping at all during the past 24 hours…we are all struggling a bit, yet, we are determined to power through! It’s just a little bit tough to be as hyped up as I thought I would be when you’re jetlagged and you run into a few surprises (like how 10 girls are sharing 1 shower). Not quite sure how it is all going to work out. But, I know it will and I know it will be all be so worth it in the end. And hey, it is an adventure after all!

I really am so excited for this opportunity to see the world and immerse myself into an entirely new culture and language too! And I know I’ll feel more hyped up about it once I am all unpacked and settled in. I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for me. I have a feeling it’s going to be one I won’t ever forget.

I hope each and every one of you are having a happy day!

Wedding Wednesday – Honeymoon Spots

Are you having trouble deciding where to go for your honeymoon? To me, it seems like everywhere you look to research a honeymoon location, you’re given the same typical locations. Not that there is anything wrong with Fiji, Italy, or the Sandals Honeymoon Package. I would be more than happy to go to any of those places. t’s just that sometimes I’m curious to see not so traditional places suggested. So, I decided to come up with a few on my own.

Bali, Indonesia: The Como Shambhala Estate looks like such a wonderful place to relax in one of the most peaceful settings. If I had to sum up what I think this honeymoon vacation would be like in one word, I think it would have to be zen. And after planning a wedding, which can sometimes always be somewhat stressful, I think all brides and grooms could use a little bit of zen.

Napa Valley, California: Sometimes leaving the United States isn’t an option or maybe it’s a little intimidating for some. Hotel Yountville has a similar feel to Italy and is perfect for the couple that would love to take part in wine tastings.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: Villa Grande is the perfect place for a more adventurous couple, who also would like some time to relax and soak up the sun. On this trip couples could just relax on the beach or they could go kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, whale watching, etc.

London, England: And for those who love to be on the go, sightseeing in London would just be magical. The Corintha Hotel would be the perfect place to come home to every night after bopping around town to relax and recharge for the next day.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Or where have you always dreamed of going on your honeymoon?

Parasailing

parasailing1

Last week, I took a little vacation to Charleston with Colin and his family. And I really needed that because I kind of sort of really missed him. Anyway, on our first day on the beach Colin and I saw parasailors go by. We both said that we would love to go parasailing one day. I said one day meaning, you know, before I die. And Colin said one day meaning during our few days there in Charleston. (Clearly, he understood the concept of doing things now more than I did. And I love him for that.) That night when we got back to the house, he pulled out his laptop, booked our tickets, and two days later we were 800 feet in the air parasailing over Charleston’s harbor with dolphins swimming below us. (No joke about the dolphins…we really saw them!!)

^^Look how tiny we were! This picture was just to show how high we were in comparison to the boat.

^^They decided to mess with us a little bit and dip us in the water!

Once we got back on the deck of the boat, we both agreed that now that we crossed parasailing off of our bucket list, we are ready to go skydiving (but shhh don’t tell my parents or they might freak out a little!).
