(Early) Wedding Wednesday

We are going to have Wedding Wednesday a day early this week…because today is Emily and Steve’s wedding anniversary! Happy two years, Emily and Steve!

In honor of their anniversary, I wanted to share their wedding video with you guys. I may be biased, but this is my absolute favorite wedding video to watch.

Every time I watch this I’m reminded of how grateful I am that Emily found someone who loves her as much as he does, makes her laugh as much as he does, and makes her the happiest she has ever been. I couldn’t have asked for a better brother-in-law for my sweet sister. They have such a beautiful marriage together and set such a great example of what marriage should be. I could only hope that one day I have a marriage just as special as theirs. I love you guys so so much and I wish you many more happy years of marriage xoxo

Book Club – Night Film Review and October Pick

Screen Shot 2013-09-04 at 8.39.43 PMAt the end of last month, I declared my very first “Tuesdays With Tim Book Club Pick” as Marisha Pessl’s: Night Film.

I was really excited about this book because of all the press it was getting.  Well, I was not disappointed.  I loved it!

Here is the publisher’s description:

A page-turning thriller for readers of Stephen King, Gillian Flynn, and Stieg Larsson,Night Film tells the haunting story of a journalist who becomes obsessed with the mysterious death of a troubled prodigy—the daughter of an iconic, reclusive filmmaker.

On a damp October night, beautiful young Ashley Cordova is found dead in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Though her death is ruled a suicide, veteran investigative journalist Scott McGrath suspects otherwise. As he probes the strange circumstances surrounding Ashley’s life and death, McGrath comes face-to-face with the legacy of her father: the legendary, reclusive cult-horror-film director Stanislas Cordova—a man who hasn’t been seen in public for more than thirty years.
For McGrath, another death connected to this seemingly cursed family dynasty seems more than just a coincidence. Though much has been written about Cordova’s dark and unsettling films, very little is known about the man himself.
Driven by revenge, curiosity, and a need for the truth, McGrath, with the aid of two strangers, is drawn deeper and deeper into Cordova’s eerie, hypnotic world. The last time he got close to exposing the director, McGrath lost his marriage and his career. This time he might lose even more.

Night Film, the gorgeously written, spellbinding new novel by the dazzlingly inventive Marisha Pessl, will hold you in suspense until you turn the final page.

The number one thing I loved about this book is the character of Cordova: the fictional and legendary film director.  The idea of this elusive, creepy director who no one knows anything about was an ingenious creation by author, Marisha Pessl.  Especially because he is not a main character in the book.  Just the idea of him is.  In this day and age, people are hash tagging, tweeting and pinning to be known and discovered, but not Cordova.  Who is this man? What is he after? Is he evil? Misunderstood?

Pessl spent a long time with this book (almost 10 years), but also with the world she built within its pages.  I love when authors make worlds so believable that you almost wonder if there really is a Cordova out there somewhere.  She makes the unbelievable, entertaining but also credible! She created this world by designing movie posters for each of Cordova’s films, previews for these films and also by adding screen shots of fake internet sites within the book.  It’s like a children’s book complete with pictures for adults.  It really adds to the reading experience!

There really isn’t much more I can say about this book without spoiling it, so I urge you to try it and you will get lost in the world of Cordova!

Today is the first day of October so my next book club pick is by the King of scary himself: Stephen King.

Screen Shot 2013-09-27 at 1.04.34 PM

Stephen King is one of my favorite authors and his brand new novel is the sequel to his 1977 classic: The Shining!  Do you remember it?  Whatever happened to the little boy with telepathic gifts at the Overlook Hotel?  Read it and give yourself a good scare this month of October just in time for Halloween!  And if you need a costume idea for Halloween, check out my post about Halloween Costume Inspiration.

Happy October! Happy Reading! and See you on Tuesdays!

Same Page Monday

1.  We can see what people who visit our blog actually typed into google to get there.  I would like to bring to your attention that we have had a few visitors who have googled… “girls skinny dipping”… and then ended up at The Milly and Grace Girls blog… all thanks to Emily’s 30 before 30 checklist.  Scandalous, Emily.   I wonder if they were disappointed when they got to the page and all they saw was her cute little face.  Sorry, boys/girls… it’s not that kinda website ;)

2.  Breaking Bad ended this weekend which means I can start watching it now or in a few years.  I don’t like watching things when they are cool and hip to watch.  Mainly because I don’t like waiting a week to watch the next episode!  I want to watch everything all in a row, all at once, and when I want to watch it.. I wouldn’t say I have an addictive personality but it definitely comes out when it comes to TV series that are streaming on Netflix.  I am now all caught up on Friday Night Lights, Alias, Felicity, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and Orange is the New Black…  P.S.  I am now free for discussions about Chuck and Blair, how sexy Riggins is, how JJ Abrams used the same cast for Felicity and Alias and how watching OistheNB kinda makes you want to go to jail… call me/text me/comment me!

3.  Ivy thinks she is a human baby.

4.  Patriots are 4 – 0.

5.  Talked to Caroline on the phone this weekend for the first time since she’s been in Switzerland!  She has just been soooooooooooooooooo busy doing all these amazing things.  The thing she misses most about America though (well behind family and friends, of course) is Mexican food. Well guess what… and don’t be jealous of me, Caroline, but I had taco night with the girls last night.  Yummy, delicious, spicy tacos with guacamole.  There are no pictures/instagrams to prove it, but you know I am a trustworthy person.  P.S. I miss you little sister.

6. 187 people pinned Tuesday with Tim’s Halloween Bert and Ernie costume idea!!  Go Tim!
