Food In NYC

After all our running around at the show, we had to recharge to go back the next day! And there is no better place to recharge than New York because they have the best restaurants. We left each restaurant feeling so stuffed. Almost to the point of being uncomfortable. But, it was totally worth it (especially for this college student who is used to cafeteria food)!

Shake Shack and Pinkberry

This was Oscar Night. When we left the show that day, we had exactly 15 minutes to make it back to the hotel just in time for the Red Carpet. And we booked it to make it back with two minutes to spare! Thank goodness…I didn’t want to miss a second. And my wonderful sister offered to be our pick up and delivery girl for the night. She went out twice for my mom and I. The first time for Shake Shack burgers, which are so unbelievably delicious, and the second time for Pinkberry. Isn’t she just the best?

What we ordered:

Three cheeseburgers

A Hotdog to share

Fries

Chocolate Hazelnut frozen yogurt, chocolate shavings, raspberries, blueberries

Sfoglia

We knew we had to go to Sfoglia because this restaurant was one of our favorites on Nantucket. The restaurant actually began on Nantucket, but then closed and moved to their NYC location (BOOOO!). We missed it terribly, especially the bread, so we made sure to walk down memory lane by eating our favorite dishes here.

Sfloglia

What we ordered:

Cheese plate

Pappardelle alla bolognese

Ricotta gnocchi, spicy pork shoulder, leeks, tomato

Chicken al mattone

ABC Kitchen

If you are in New York, you have to make sure you come to this restaurant for dinner one night! From the atmosphere to the plates on the table and of course to all the food, everything was divine. And the restaurant is an addition off of the store, ABC Carpet & Home, so be sure to stop in there too! They had so many unique finds. I was just in love with this place.

What we ordered:

Housemade ricotta, fig compote, grilled bread

Pretzel dusted calamari, marinara and mustard aioli

Roasted butternut squash, hazelnuts, goat cheese and spicy onions

Mushroom, parmesan, oregano, and farm egg pizza

Kasha and bowtie pasta, veal meatballs

Whole wheat cavatelli, rabbit ragu, pecorino

Brussel sprouts with mustard vinaigrette

Donutplant

I am a sucker for donuts. Seriously, it is so hard for me to say no. I can say no to cupcakes, cake, cookies, and just about anything else, but donuts are a weakness for me. And this place had a peanut butter and jelly one…I nearly fainted just at the sight of it.

All of the food was so so yummy and my mouth is watering just thinking about eating the food. I can’t wait for my next visit to NYC so I can try more restaurants!

Meaningful Beauty

Informercial – 1.     Allison – 0.

Yep.  I caved.  I am now the proud owner of Cindy Crawford’s skin care line.

Sidenote: I had seen the Meaningful Beauty infomercial many times before and was strong not to pick up the phone right away and call, but they got me this time.

A couple months ago, Caroline and I ran into Cindy at the Malibu Lumber Yard.  She took our breath away.  Her skin is perfection.  She was glowing.  I hope to I get the same results. Fingers crossed.

This is just another job of an actor.  You always have to be camera ready because you never know when your big break might come!  This goes along with the whole marketing idea of creating the perfect package for your product.

I know I live in Beverly Hills now, and there is probably a faster way to fix those wrinkles that are starting to form on my forehead…. BUT I am doing everything I can to stay away from BH’s “drug” of choice – Botox!

The Show: Coterie

I really didn’t know what I was missing out on when my mom and Emily went to the clothing shows in New York while I had to go to school. I always imagined what it would be like…but I didn’t think it would be as fun as it ended up being! I am so glad that my Spring Break fell on the same week as one of the clothing shows because I really did have a blast! And New York City is one of my favorite cities, so that was just the cherry on top!

My mom and Emily started a tradition on their very first time going to a show of going to Starbucks for breakfast. Oatmeal and Coffees (Tea for me though!). And now, it is bad luck to go anywhere else for breakfast on show days…and we wouldn’t want that! So, Starbucks it was.

Then, it was show time!!

The only way I can think of describing what the show was like is comparing it to Devil Wears Prada. Remember the scene when Meryl Streep is being shown all the clothes in a particular collection and she decides whether she likes the pieces or not? “There’s a scale. One nod is good, two nods is very good. There’s only one actual smile on record and that was Tom Ford in 2001. If she doesn’t like it she shakes her head. Then of course there’s the pursing of the lips. Which means? Catastrophe.” That’s how I felt…although Emily, my mom and I were smiling a lot more than pursing our lips! We went from designer to designer picking out some amazing pieces for Milly & Grace.

Here is a sneak peak at what is coming to Milly & Grace this season!

And that wraps up the Fall Show! I can’t wait until I get to go back again. And I can’t wait to unpack all the boxes with these cute clothes inside (it’s not often you hear me say that) so that I can try them all on. Summer, hurry up!!
