DIY Instagram Coasters

Are you already  thinking about Christmas presents for next year??  Or for an upcoming birthday or engagement?  Here is an idea for a meaningful, affordable, adorable gift!  I made them this Christmas for my family, and they were a hit!

Remember those supplies I said I got at Home Depot that Bill was driving up to Nantucket??

Well they were for these DIY Instagram Coasters!!

What you need…

1. Tiles from Home Depot (Chiaro Tumbled, Genuine stone – $4 for 9 tiles)

2. Mod Podge

3. Instagram Pictures printed on printer paper but select “photo paper” option when you print. For a 4 x 4 tile… print a 3.68 square to fit perfectly

4. Piece of Sponge

5. Mod Podge Gloss Acrylic Sealer to waterproof the coasters

6. Felt Pads

Instructions:

Step 1. Spread Mod Podge on the top of the tile.

Step 2.  Place the picture on the tile.

Step 3.  Spread Mod Podge over the picture.

I would cut off the edge of the sponge in between each tile because ink would get on the sponge.

Step 4.  After they are fully dry, spray with the acrylic sealer.  Then let dry. (Step not pictured)

Step 5. Place felt pad circles in all four corners of the tiles.

Finally, collect a set of four tiles that match, tie them up with a bow and give them to your favorite people!

A big thank you to Steve for taking the best Instagram pictures ever!  (I used all his shots!)

AND THEY CALLED IT….

Puppylove

As one of Patty’s favorite childhood crushes, Donny Osmond, once said, “And they called it…. Puppy Looooovvvveeee.”

We are in love with a puppy.  She has us all smitten.  (You have permission to make fun of us all if you want!)

I finally got to meet Ivy for the first time just a few days ago!!  I had been dying to snuggle that cute face.  I already love her so much…

The Ott Girls didn’t grow up with pets, which is why we are so obsessed with puppy girl, Ivy. Emily and Steve had to go to the mainland for the annual Hollister Christmas party, so the Otts got to puppysit!  Emily dropped Ivy off in the morning.  It was hard to say goodbye!  Ivy loves her Mama…

And then the fun began!  We took her on big walks, played fetch, snuggled, and taught her new tricks!  We were trying to teach her to “roll over” but she does not seem to get it.  But we did test out her “stay skills”….

Can you believe that 6 month old puppy?!?  She did it on the first try!

She is such a good puppy.  Emily and Steve trained her so well.  She really listens and is wicked smaaarrrrrt.   She is the “teacher’s pet” at dog training class!  Ivy is definitely not Poison Ivy… she is as sweet as can be!

Ivy did fall victim to one of my classic moves… A Pain In The Butt Cone Hat!! I did it to Caroline when she was just a few years old too!

Ivy was just a little bit of a pain in the butt.  She is just a puppy.  She was soooooo exhausted and stumbled into her crate for bed… she was fast asleep next to Caroline when all of a sudden she pops up and starts pawing on her crate to get out!  Caroline thought maybe she had to go to the bathroom but NO!! Patty was downstairs cooking up her meat for the morning! Ivy smelled it and got all excited!  Lesson learned.

Can’t wait to puppysit again! She is such a happy puppy to have around!

Same Page Monday

I have been sitting here with my lime La Croix staring at a blank blog post screen for the last hour.

It is almost the end of the year, and this is always the time when I reflect back on the last year and become a little more serious (well only a little more serious). I don’t have anything funny for you guys!! I feel like everything I could update you on is so trivial… Like, I got a haircut last week or post this really funny interview of Paul Rudd and Jason Segal (which they were high the whole time). I mean, you guys don’t care about that right now! It’s almost the holidays and time for being with our loved ones! Anyways, here are a few things I have been thinking about…

1.  I keep coming across this “gif” image of Jennifer Lawrence – before and after photoshopping for a magazine cover.  It is just so silly.  Do we all agree?  There was absolutely nothing wrong with the  original/natural image of JLaw.  Why does this industry feel the need to make these people look unrelateable!?!  People like to be able to relate to others.  That is actually a better marketing tool than alienating people.  Real women want to know that these stars are just like them.  Magazines would probably sell more magazines if they kept the authenticity of these amazing women.  When will this ever change?

2. Gwyneth Paltrow and Tracy Anderson just released a new webseries called The Restart Project!  It is going to be an amazing series where these two powerhouses go and meet with women who have been through the unimaginable, and talk about what they have done to overcome tragedy.  All of these women turned their focus to health and fitness to get them through.  Tracy mentioned in an interview, ” They all chose to connect with themselves more physically or invest in their health to help them heal.  None of their motivation came from vanity.”  I love that Gwyneth and Tracy are putting the spotlight on these women!  Here is one of their episodes…

We can all relate to these women in one way or another! I have spent many a day in Tracy Anderson’s studio, where all I wanted to do was cry. It was just couple weeks ago where I walked into cardio class fighting back tears the whole time. I was having one of those days where I was thinking…. “What the heck am I doing out here? Why am I trying to break into this crazy acting industry??? I am seriously being so stupid. The odds are so against me.” After an hour of dancing my heart out, I felt so much better! For me, Tracy’s method is my therapy, and for that I am so grateful for her. Thank you, Tracy!

3.That’s it for today. I will definitely have more for you next Monday. I leave for Nantucket this Thursday! The girls will be reunited, and I know we will have some stories to share. I can’t wait to land on that island and see my family!!! I miss you all. It looked like you were having too much fun without me at Emily’s party! Amazing job, Matchy Matchy Party Lady (Patty) and Caroline! XO
