Generation Gap

So, last summer Emily and I were driving in the car together and a song came on that I had never heard before in my life…but Emily got so excited, turned up the music and started singing every word!

She said, “I love this song!!” To which I said, “I have never even heard it before.” And she kinda sorta flipped out because she could not believe it. Then, she said, “I guess you really are 10 years younger than me!” (Update to the story: I have seen Pitch Perfect, so now I, too, can sing almost every word to that song!)

Then, the other day at the party Em threw for Tim and Santi, Steve and I were sitting next to each other and this song came on.

I said to Steve, “doesn’t this song remind you of the movie, Matilda?!” And he thought for a second and then said, “No, not at all…this song reminds me of high school!”

Basically, there is a huge generation gap that we are all noticing a lot lately. It’s kind of funny because most of the time I don’t really feel that much younger…so it takes us by surprise. (Although they probably don’t think it’s as funny because it reminds them of how much older they are.)

Flower Boxes

I really am in love with this quaint little island I am lucky to call home. It’s so quaint and charming and well…my happy place. One of the most charming aspects of Nantucket is the flower boxes that line almost every house. I am such a sucker for flowers, so to have them on almost every house makes me smile so big.

The other day, my mom and I headed over to Hummock Pond Farm to pick out the plants and flowers to put in the boxes for our house. And we decided to go with an all white color-scheme this year!

Doesn’t it just make it so much cuter?? Sigh. My heart is happy.

A Walk With My Mommy

I just recently got a new camera and I am LOVING it. I take it everywhere. It’s my new obsession. Anyway, I have been messing around with all the different settings and trying to master it (not close to mastering it, but I’m working on it!). So, the other day I decided to try out the video setting just for fun to see what I could come up with. My mom and I went on a walk on Sanford Farm, which is probably one of my favorites because after 3 miles of walking through pretty green trails…you end up at the BEACH(!!!), and I decided to video the walk. It turned out better than I had expected…but I still need a bit of practice. (Like note to self: don’t walk so much when you’re trying to film…it gets a little shaky!) Anyway, here is my first video ever! I hope it makes you smile.
