Same Page Monday on Tuesday

1.  Caroline is totes annoyed that Taylor Swift keeps copying her hair cuts.  The girls woke up to this text from Caroline this morning with this picture… “Can she stop copying me!  When I cut my bangs… she got them cut.  When I chopped my hair… she chopped hers.”  She’s totes joking, people.  We don’t take ourselves that seriously!  I totes used totes in this post.

2.  Em got a new car last week!  I asked her to send me a picture and she sent me this!  It’s her little tradition to take a picture of her standing on top of the roof of her new car!

3.  Serious business.  It rained in LA (off and on) for 3 days in a row last week.  I think we are all still recovering from the “craziness”.  LA can’t handle rain.  Hikes were cancelled, dinner plans were cancelled, people didn’t go to the gym because they didn’t want to drive in the rain, people had to buy umbrellas that they will never use again, hair got wet, the Oscars Red Carpet was almost ruined by the rain… I mean it was crazy.

4.  Jimmy Fallon is really nailing it with the Tonight Show.  I actually don’t watch it but Emily mentioned it to me the other day, so I thought I would pass it along to you guys.  I always catch clips of it and love it!  Maybe he should host the Oscars next year??

5.  We are in the final countdown for our Europe trip to visit our little Cezzie!!  One week and a day to go!  Caroline what do you need from the United States of America?  Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter M&M’s, Ice??  Tell me now!  I am definitely going to make a Target run sometime before I leave.

6.  That’s it.  I think we are all on the Same Page now.  Good.  I will get back to you if I think of anything else! XO

Oscars Best Dressed

bestdressed

emily_bestdressedTo me, Lupita was the Oscars.  She was so genuine and so thoughtful that you couldn’t help but fall for her.  I don’t know about you, but I was in tears!  Her fashion performance this award season has been stellar so I knew she wasn’t going to disappoint.  This pretty powder blue gown stood out on her beautiful dark skin.  But it might have been her smile that completed this look.

Cate Blanchett.  You are a movie star.  Her whole look was perfectly and carefully curated – her stylist deserves a raise!  I especially loved how her earrings matched the texture on the dress!

I don’t normally love what Gulianna wears but tonight was the exception.  I loved how she kept it simple with the hair and jewels so not to take away from the dress. Out of all the dresses, I think this is the dress that I would pick to wear myself.  I love the color!

Oh the Oscars!  I had such a hard time picking my Best Dressed!  How could you not pick Lupita and Cate?!
Emily put it perfectly.  Lupita was truly magical last night.  And she was right.. “You’re never fully dressed without a smile!”.  You can’t deny that she felt the magic last night and it truly showed!  She deserved it.  Beautiful inside and out.  She looked like Cinderella… “No matter where you’re from your dreams are valid!”
Cate was amazing, elegant, poised, regal, divine, humble last night… she stunned on the red carpet too.  Her earrings were perfect!  They looked like opals.  Totally unique.  Loved.  (I think her dress most looked like the dress I picked!  Just saying.)
I loved Emma Watson’s look too!  I know not many will agree with me on this one.  Her look really went unnoticed last night but I think it really was cool (like her Golden Globes look).  I would have loved to have seen a cool necklace or bracelet to tie the look together but I still loved the simplicity of the dress.
I had a really hard time picking (Emma, Angelina and Kate tied for third for me!)… I feel badly not including them.  So my Very Honorable Mention goes to Angelina Jolie and Kate Hudson.

Sandra Bullock looked absolutely beautiful last night. The reason I gave her my number one spot is because there isn’t one thing I would change about her look. The bracelet and earrings compliment each other well. Her hair was elegantly swept to the side opposite of the draping on her dress. She had matching navy blue nails. I really think she just nailed this look.
Lupita looked wonderful last night too. I have to agree with everything my sisters said. She just radiates joy and you can’t help but smile when you look at her. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the random gold snake bracelet she wore, which clashed with her earrings, headband, and the sweet look she was going for. I give her a 99%. And she most definitely wins the BEST DRESSED OVERALL for this entire award show season. She shined on every single red carpet. That girl knows what she is doing (or at least her stylist does) and I love that she wears so much color. She is such an inspiration to so many people and I am so happy for her and her win.
And just like my sisters said, Cate Blanchett looked stunning as well. The earrings, the dress, the makeup. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was how her hair was down. It was just a little too busy for me. I think I would have liked to see her hair half up half down instead. But, other than that I adored her look just as much as I adored her performance in Blue Jasmine.
We are so sad award season is over! But, we are already looking forward to next season (especially Caroline who will be able to watch the entire program from beginning to end instead of only being able to watch the highlights because she is abroad)!

Fall 2014 Market – New York

Day 1 – Travel Day: This trip Patty and I stayed at the Dream Hotel Downtown in the Meatpacking District.  We like to try out a different hotel every time we go to NYC so that we can get to know the different neighborhoods.  The jury is still out on my favorite area of the city.  I have to say, I’m really liking the Meatpacking/Chelsea area. The Dream

The hotel was great!!  (Just make sure your room isn’t near the elevators – it was a little loud). DreamroomPhotos from DreamHotel.comUSAflagdreamhotel

We had dinner at Tipsy Parson.  Southern meets the city – super cute decor and very filling food.  The warm kale salad and the mac & cheese are a must.  And the pork chop was very delicious as well! tipsyparsonPhotos from TipsyParson.com

Day 2 – 1st day of Market Outfit: Rebecca Taylor top (vintage Milly & Grace), Blank Denim jeans (available at Milly & Grace), Coach Madison Small Kelsey Bag in Cognac, Steve Madden booties, Chanel lipgloss in Seashell, & Dannijo bracelets (available at Milly & Grace).fmoutfit1StackingDannijo

After a long day on our feet we met up for dinner & drinks with the girls from The Lovely! Julie, Sarah, Emme, Patty & I headed to Soho to an excellent Thai restaurant called Kittichai.  We loved the ambiance here.  I recommend the lettuce wraps, the tuna tartare and the steak.  The steak was especially delicious!! KITTICHAIPhotos from kennected & kittichai.com.

Day 3 – 2nd day of marketOutfit: Nili Lotan turtleneck ruana (We will be carrying Nili Lotan at Milly & Grace and a version of this will be available this fall!!), Blank Denim gray jeans (available at Milly & Grace), Henri Bendel collection bag, Ralph Lauren boots, Gillian Julius bracelet (available at Milly & Grace), Chanel Sunglasses & Chanel Lipgloss in Wild Rose.FMoutfit2For dinner we met up with my friend Amanda at La Esquina.  (Amanda is getting married next weekend!! Remember I went to her bachelorette weekend in Mexico??) This place was too good – shh!  Don’t tell anyone!!  An authentic Mexican restaurant with the most outrageously delicious grilled Mexican corn (this is a must!).  Amanda knew what to order so we followed her lead – I recommend the tuna & chicken tostadas and the steak & chicken tacos.  The only negative was that their classic margarita wasn’t great but I will definitely be going back!laesquinaPhotos from LaEsquina.com

Day 4 – Last day of the market: Outfit: Ralph Lauren sweater & turquoise necklace, Blank Denim jeans, Steve Madden booties, Coach bag, Chanel sunglasses & Kevin Aucoin lipgloss in Hydraa (available at Beauty by the Sea on Nantucket!)FMoutfit3For our last night, we indulged ourselves and had dinner at L’Artusi in the West Village.  This Italian place knocked our socks off.  Everything about it.  The service, the ambiance, the decor, the drinks and especially the food.  This place was definitely my favorite of the lot.  I recommend the housemade ricotta, the mushroom salad, the orecchiette, and the chicken.
