I saw this wedding earlier this week on my favorite wedding blog Style Me Pretty and became totally and completely inspired. I am obsessed with polka dots. And black and white is my favorite color combination of all time. There is black and white in my room back in Georgia, the background of my phone and my computer is black and white polka dots, I have black and white polka dot pants…you get the point. This wedding had both elements in its theme and I pretty much flipped out when I saw the groom with a black and white polka dot tie and the flower girl wearing a black and white polka dot dress. I’m usually not a fan of black in weddings (aside from the suits) because sometimes it can read too dark. Even the solid black dresses of that wedding were a little too much for me. But, I think by staying mostly white with the major details and adding black in the smaller details it comes out to be light, happy, elegant, and classy! I think because of my love for polka dots and black and white I would have the most fun planning a wedding with this theme. SO, if you want to have a black and white polka dot wedding theme….pick me to help you plan it, pretty please! I’m basically on my hands and knees begging right now. That’s how much I love this theme. Any takers??? Not yet? Okay, well in the mean time I will just play around with the idea virtually…
Snowshoeing in Switzerland
These past few days since I have arrived in Switzerland have been bittersweet. I was really missing my family and not quite ready to leave them for so long again. And also, I was not ready for the mounds of schoolwork that await me. However, with the bitter part aside, we have been participating in many activities during this semester’s orientation that have reminded me just how beautiful this country is. I truly love it to bits and pieces.
One activity in particular was snowshoeing! When I got on the plane to come back to Switzerland, I began to feel a bit sick and haven’t quite recovered yet. So, when the 6:30am wake-up call came this morning to be ready, get breakfast, and meet in the lobby by 7:30 was quite a struggle. When my alarm went off, I was seriously considering ignoring it and just going back to sleep. I was exhausted and Hannah felt the same way since she just got in last night. But, we both rallied each other out of bed and told ourselves that if we go, we probably won’t regret it. But, if we stay, there is probably a higher chance that we will regret it. So, we went! And guess what? We didn’t regret it one bit! Sure, it was painfully early in the morning. But, all the snow and those gigantic green trees we were wandering through made it totally worth the while.
^^Sometimes, we needed help getting down the steep downhill parts.
^^Other times, we just went for it on our bums…
^^…and tummies!
^^We made it!
But, now we are ready for a nap!
P.S. I am totally aware that I pretty much look like a boy with my baggy snow pants, beanie, and short hair. (Like this newly famous TedTalk boy in particular…Logan LaPlante) Let’s just all try to ignore that. Okay? Okay. Good, I’m glad we agree!
Milly & Grace Buying Trip in New York 2014
Guess what?! I didn’t have to be back in Switzerland until today so that meant that I could tag along with my mom and Emily to New York! They were headed there to do the buying for the store. We are getting ready for the new season everyone! And there is lots to be excited about….new jewelry lines, new clothing lines (like FREE PEOPLE!), and some other fun things! We started off the trip with a cancelled flight that led us to catch the ferry because there is no other way off of Nantucket other than flying or ferrying. Once we got to the cape, there were no taxis because they were all running way behind schedule. Well, our travel plans stuck tight to a schedule because we had to make sure we caught each mode of transportation necessary. So, with no taxis in sight, we had to pull our suitcases through the snow on the streets of Hyannis all the way to the bus stop. Then, we jumped on the bus for a few hours. Hopped off and hopped on a train for another several hours. Until FINALLY, we arrived in NEW YORK! It’s one of the coolest cities ever. So. Much. Character. We love it! We ate lots of yummy food (including Pinkberry which we may or may not have eaten twice a day), shopped around, and then went to the shows to gather inventory. Check it out…
Sadly, my part of the New York trip was cut short because I had to catch a flight back to school. I’m in my room in Switzerland, my bags are unpacked, and everything is organized and ready to go for the second semester. Although, if I can be completely honest…my winter break feels like it went by way too fast and I wasn’t quite ready to come back to Switzerland yet. I know I have an amazing semester ahead of me, but right now, I’m just really missing my family and home lots. I can’t wait for them to come visit me in March!
