Movie Review – The Heat

FOX LOT

Last week, I got to watch The Heat!  NO, NOT THE NBA FINALS.  I was invited to a screening of the highly anticipated movie, The Heat, on the Fox Lot.  The stars of the movie – Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, two comedic geniuses.  I couldn’t wait to see this pair in action!  I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say they KILLED IT!

The Heat

Here is a little teaser trailer…

Melissa McCarthy was definitely the best part of the movie.  Melissa’s improv skills are epic.  The stuff that comes out of her mouth is insanely fresh and funny (and a lot of times… completely inappropriate! haha).  Sandra Bullock was right there with her as the comedic veteran of the movie, playing the uptight, by the book character that she so perfectly plays.  Their “odd couple” style relationship made them the perfect partners in crime and in comedy!

My one wish was for better casting of the other characters (not including Marlon Wayans and Michael Rapaport.  They were great).  The “bad guys” and the other cops were just not that believable.  If those other actors or characters were better developed or comparable to the level of the leads the movie would have been 10 times better.

The movie is a summer blockbuster kind of movie.  A little cheesy.  Ok, really cheesy.  BUT you will definitely have a good laugh out loud!

Rating: B+

The Real LA Experience

My cousin arrives in 4 hours.

I have been thinking a lot about making sure she gets the “The Real LA Experience” while she is here.  I really want to make it special.

So first, I think we will start off with sitting in traffic on the 405.

Traffic

Next, I think I will take her to Sprinkles Cupcakes/ATM/Sprinkles Ice Cream.  A LA must.

Sprinkles

This will be the last solid food we will eat because I will be putting her and myself on 3 day juice cleanse in the morning.

Juice Cleanse

Juice cleanses are a way of life here.  (I actually have never done one but have definitely toyed with the idea.)

I wonder if stand still, horrible traffic is the cause of LA road rage or if the juice cleanses are to blame.

Next we will hike Runyon Canyon.  This is where LA people go to workout/see and be seen/take their rescue dogs for exercise…

Runyon 2

And for sure we won’t miss the Farmer’s Market on Sunday.  This is where everyone goes to stock up on fresh, organic veggies for their raw diets for the coming week.

Farmers Market

Ok, that is all I have planned as of right now but I will keep you all posted!

The Situation is…

The situation is… I have a manic case of the daydreams.

I am sorry that sounds so inappropriate for some reason.

I have one week before I leave for Nantucket for the month of July.   I have so much I need to do AND my cousin, Shannon (who designed this blog), is coming for a visit…  BUT all I can think about is everything else but the matter at hand!

Day dream

Day Dreams have included…

Channing Tatum

Channing
I know.  Typical.  But I just saw White House Down last night, and my friend and I concluded that Channing Tatum can do no wrong.

And Pizza…

Pizza

What does that even say about me?

These were all separate day dreams.  Hmmm…

So pretty much, I want to be with Channing on the beach in Nantucket eating pizza.  Isn’t that every girls dream?
