Fourth of July Outfit Ideas

I’m always one to dress according to holidays…on St. Patricks Day I’m always wearing green, on Valentines Day I’m always wearing either red or pink, so of course for the Fourth of July I’m always wearing red, white, and blue! Here are some outfit ideas depending on your plans for the Fourth!

If I was attending a causal get together or barbeque, a red, white and blue plaid shirt with some cut off jeans shorts would be my go to outfit. Tying the shirt in a knot is a fun way to make it a little more styled!

If I was attending a Fourth of July picnic, I would probably wear a sundress like this one with a bow necktie. You know me…I’m a sucker for bows!

If I was attending more of an event, I would wear more of a statement dress like this navy and white striped ballgown with some sparkly earrings that resemble fireworks!

What are your plans for the Fourth?? Do you have your outfit planned out already??

We are expecting a hurricane on our Fourth of July so we will be celebrating on the Fifth of July!! Right now I’m training for my annual watermelon-eating contest. This year I have a title to defend…wish me luck :)

S’more Cupcakes for the Fourth

This recipe is perfect for the Fourth of July or any summer cookout! We tested this recipe out the other night and brought them down the shell path to the Hollister’s house for a cookout…there wasn’t a crumb left! This recipe has been tested and approved! Nantucket is expecting a wet and rainy Fourth of July, so these are perfect because we can’t have a bonfire and roast marshmallows outside in the rain.

I felt like I was on Cupcake Wars while I was making these cupcakes! There are quite a few steps but they are all worth it in the end! I hope you give them a try!

“Hide Yo Kids, Hide Yo Wife…”

Hi everyone!! It’s been a while since I’ve been on the blog. The last time we spoke I was still in Switzerland, but now I am back in America and it feels good to be home! Emily and I were working hard to get the store ready to open so that’s why we have been MIA for a little while. The store is now open and looks beautiful…have you seen it?? Anyway, since we last spoke, the Easter bunny came to visit us and we had a very happy Easter. I hope you guys did too! Steve’s family was in town and they were kind enough to let me tag along on all the festivities. It started with a lovely brunch.

Then, we piled into cars and drove out to a beach where no one would be around because…we were going shooting! This was the first time Emily and I had shot a shotgun. I’d always wanted to learn and my wish finally came true. We were pretty terrible at shooting clay pigeons on the fly. But, we were able to shoot them when we made them a stationary target. I must say that it was pretty fun.
